Privacy Policy

This policy explains what 1040kit collects on 1040kit.com and how the 1040kit software handles your tax information. If you have a question or want your data deleted, email hello@1040kit.com.

What we collect on this website

The only personal information this website collects is the email address you enter in the waitlist form. Along with it we store:

• the date and time you joined
• which form on the page you used

We do not store your name, phone number, IP address, or browser details with your signup. Like most websites, our hosting provider may briefly keep technical request logs, such as IP addresses, to run and secure the site.

How we use it

We use your email address only to tell you when 1040kit launches and to send important updates about it. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.

Cookies and analytics

1040kit.com does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.

Where it is stored

The waitlist is stored in a database hosted by Cloudflare, which runs this website. Cloudflare processes requests to the site in order to deliver it and protect it from abuse.

Deleting your information

Email hello@1040kit.com from the address you signed up with and ask us to remove it. We will delete it and confirm by reply.

How the 1040kit software handles your tax information

1040kit is designed so that your tax documents and your finished return stay on your computer:

• Your W-2s, 1099s, and other documents are read on your computer, not uploaded to 1040kit.
• 1040kit replaces Social Security numbers, employer IDs, and account numbers with placeholders before passing your information to the AI assistant. If you attach a document to the chat yourself, the assistant sees it as you shared it.
• When the AI needs to look up an IRS rule, 1040kit sends only the question to our server, with those numbers removed. We do not store the text of these questions.

You use 1040kit inside an AI assistant such as Claude Code or Codex. Your conversation with that assistant is handled by its provider under its own privacy policy.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use your email address, we will tell you by email first.
